原声BBC英语每日一句 have your cake and eat it

have-your-cake-and-eat-it

1. He’s just got married, but he misses the single life. Well it’s too bad – you can’t have your cake and eat it!

2. “You can’t have your cake and eat it.” We use this phrase in English to mean that you can’t have something both ways.

译文:

2. “You can’t have your cake and eat it.”

miss = 想念

can’t have your cake and eat it = can’t KEEP your cake and eat it [at the same time]

I don’t feel like going to work on Monday, but I need the money, so I can’t have my cake and eat it.

My brother just got married but he misses the single life. Well it’s too bad – he can’t have his cake and eat it!
